Bengaluru by Day: Part 2

Cubbon Park is a big green area in the center of Bengaluru.  Originally encompassing 100 acres, it was created by the British in 1870.  It is now 300 acres. We headed to the state library at the center of the park.  Now that I look at the on-line maps, we took the longest possible route to get there.

We started the trek with this many...

... and lost a few.

The State Library at the end of the walk

Nikhil was exhausted
We pushed on further to see the Karanataka government center.  These were impressive buildings, but we couldn't cross the street to get to them because of all the road construction.

Three lions on the dome
Atop the dome is the Lion Capital of Asoka, India's national emblem.  The original sculpture, dates back to 250 BCE and stood atop a pillar at a place where Buddha was believed to have taught.
We were too tired to walk all the way back to the van, so we hired two auto rickshaws for the return trip.  The drivers were somewhat amused by the sight of tourists taking pictures of each other on this common form of transportation.  But who cares?  The boys enjoyed the ride.

Fatigue set in and we decided to head home, to Rajan’s house, and rest until dinner.  Well, the adults wanted to rest.  They boys went to the pool because they have a lot more energy.
